Older units used NMC li-ion (lighter, but ~500 cycles to 80% capacity); the modern standard is LiFePO4 (LFP) — heavier, but 3,000–6,000 cycles, safer thermal behavior, and far better longevity. AC recharge time (minutes to full from a wall outlet) matters more than people expect — a station that refills in under an hour (Anker SOLIX C1000 at 58 min, EcoFlow's fast-charging line) is genuinely more useful than one that takes four hours (Goal Zero Yeti), because you can top it up in the window before you leave. Weight is the honest tax on capacity: a 256Wh unit is 8 lb and goes anywhere, while a 4,096Wh DELTA Pro 3 is 113 lb and basically furniture. We score weight inverted (lighter ranks higher) so the "camping" preset surfaces what you can actually carry — but weight it down if the station lives in a closet for backup and never moves.
Why the biggest unit isn't the "best" — and the tool proves it
